Mozambique: President Nyusi arrives in Ethiopia for African Union Summit
Filipe Nyusi - President of Mozambique
Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi has today delivered his Annual Report to the nation, emphasising the importance of peace among political forces.
President Nyusi, speaking in Parliament, has told the Mozambicans that 2018 has been characterized by a peaceful environment and marked as “a year of concord between different political forces”.
This peace which President Nyusi referred to was a contribution of Renamo’s late leader Afonso Dhlakama, whom the Head of State eulogised.
“Alfonso Dhlakama decided to overcome a past of death and bring Mozambicans closer in the name of what we have in common. What can unite us is stronger than it can separate us,” President Nyusi said.
He said Mozambique should not be guided by politics that fragment the people, as they undermine national development.
President Nyusi continues to present the Annual Report at the Assembly of the Republic.
