Mozambique's prime minister heads to Beijing for China's Belt and Road summit

President Filipe Nyusi said in Gorongosa today that the government was aware of the attacks recorded along National Roads Numbers 1 and 6 in the centre of the country, and that the country’s Defence and Security Forces were hunting down those responsible.
The president was addressing a popular rally this morning [Friday ] in the village headquarters of Gorongosa, Sofala district, after inaugurating a water supply system.
“We want once again to urge everyone to work together on the project of peace, peace, peace,” the head of state said, adding that Mozambique was not a country of war.
The head of state inaugurated a water supply system in Gorongosa district, which will benefit over 30,000 people in Gorongosa headquarters village, and consists of a water treatment plant capable of processing 100,000 litres per hour, a 500,000-litre reservoir, two main pumps with a capacity of 100,000 litres per hour and a 150,000 litre water tower.
President Nyusi is accompanied on his working visit to Sofala today by the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, the Governor of Sofala Province, the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom in Mozambique and members of staff of the Presidency and other state institutions.
