Late arrival at health facilities is responsible for the increase in deaths from diarrhoea in Niassa, Director of the Provincial Services for Social Affairs, José Manuel, says, advocating a change in behaviour in relation to diarrheal diseases.
Since January this year, 20 people have died of diarrhoea, out of the more than 31,000 reported cases.
Manuel said that, despite the slight reduction in cases, the disease continued to concern the provincial health authorities.
Health authorities in Niassa are intensifying community education in individual and collective hygiene and distributing water purifiers in order to alleviate the problem.
