Jornal O País
Academic Severino Ngoenha has said he finds the levels of impunity enjoyed in the country alarming.
Speaking on Saturday during a Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality seminar, the academic said the impunity enjoyed by both public and private-sector executives in particular is contributing to the erosion of the justice sector’s credibility.
To redress the situation, Ngoenha says the authorities must be relentless in applying the law if they are to avoid even more serious discontent. The academic also criticized the pattern of deprivation of liberty and said it must become better adapted to actual conditions in the country.
