MozUp, sponsored by ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada (EMML) and the Area 4 partners, and on behalf of the National Institute for Normalization and Standards (INNOQ) awarded the ISO 9001 certificate to MOZAGO in collaboration with the National Institute for Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) and EnergyWorks during a ceremony held on Thursday, May 5th.
The event was hosted by the National Institute for Normalization and Standards (INNOQ) in collaboration with the National Institute for Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) and EnergyWorks. “Implementing this quality management system has not only improved the MOZAGO’s overall performance but has had a corresponding positive impact across all areas of business, from the level of our staff capabilities, to monitoring of key targets and indicators, as well as management of clients and their satisfaction,” said Miguel Alberty, MOZAGO’s General Director.
The implementation of this new quality management system has yielded immediate positive results for Mozambique, seeing tender qualification rate rise by 7%, and response time for requests for quotations decrease by 20%.
Euleuterio Mabjaia, Director of the Financial Assistance Department, Organization, and Marketing at IPEME said “MOZAGO is an excellent example of a company that chooses to invest in quality and other businesses should follow the example to promote customer confidence and increase company sales.”
MozUp Enterprise Development Center was established in 2019 by ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada on behalf of the Area 4 partners and continue to support its operations. Additional local and international cross-sector institutions and operators are encouraged to subscribe to MozUp to create a sustainable, multi-stakeholder platform that can support other projects and industries into the future.
“We are excited to be working on such an important project with the Area 4 partners and the government of Mozambique,” said Nelson Beete, Director of MES. “Across all industries, compliance with ISO standards and ISO certification is a key demonstration of a company’s commitment to provide quality goods and services.”
Geraldo Albasini, Director of INNOQ said “this highlights the beginning of a journey of great responsibility that must be demonstrated not only by complying with the rules imposed by the ISO 9001 management and quality standards, but also by beginning to demand that our suppliers begin to be certified.”
