Renamo, the main opposition party in Mozambique, elected its new political commission and national council on Friday.
The number of members has increased in both bodies: the political committee to 15, five more than before, and the national council to 120, ten more than previously.
“The increase in the number of members is intended to facilitate representation of more provinces in these organs,” Renamo spokesman José Manteigas told Lusa at the end of the party’s sixth congress in Gorongosa, Sofala, central Mozambique.
The Renamo secretary-general will be elected at the next meeting of the National Council, on a date as yet undetermined, on the proposal of Ossufo Momade, who was elected party president on Thursday.Source: Lusa
