Mozambique: Athletes demand their rightful prizes: 'We are also heroes of this country'

Mozambican athlete Edmilsa Governo left Mozambique for Rio de Janeiro on Thursday to compete in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, which take place between the 7th and 18th of this month.
Edmilsa Governo is the only Mozambican athlete participating in the event, and will compete in the 100, 200 and 400-metres T-12 class.
On past performance stands a good chance of winning medals. At aged only 18, she already has 46, including 25 gold, the last three from the CPLP Games held this July in Cape Verde.
Saying she was confident of a good performance, Edmilsa left for Rio with her coach Narciso Fakir, also sure the athlete is ready for more podium places. “She is ready to fight for the podium places. Her preparation has been very good,” he said.
