Mozambique: Minister launches FIKANI 20023, highlights tourism sector's 12% growth last year

Mozambique’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture says the country is considering to host the World Tourism Forum, a global event that brings together experts, enthusiasts and high level players in the tourism industry to promote investment in the sector. In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry expressed its intention at the end of the visit by the president of executive board of the World Tourism Forum, Bulut Bagci who was leading a high profile delegation to Mozambique to evaluate the possibility of holding the World Tourism Forum – Africa 2018.
“The World Tourism Forum is a mega event that brings together world tourism leaders, promotes tourism destinations as well as investment opportunities and supports the training of human resources to improve performance in promoting the country,” read the statement.
Bagci’s visit included a tour of various hotel establishments and conference centres as well as a meeting with Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário.

“The World Tourism Forum showed great satisfaction with the results, which makes us (Mozambique) feel we are able to host an event of this magnitude”, the statement adds.
The organisers of the World Tourism Forum intend to build a long-term relationship whose first phase would involve hosting of the event in Mozambique and generate up to $1.4 million in revenue.
Bulut Bağcı
