The governments of Mozambique and Seychelles are to expand the provision of civil aviation services to increase the flow of people and goods between the two countries, Mozambique’s government said on Thursday.
“Based on this commitment, the airlines of each of the countries can provide international air services to the counterpart on specific routes,” said the spokeswoman for the council of ministers, Ana Comoana, quoted on Thursday by the Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias.
To strengthen cooperation with Mauritius in the aviation sector, the cabinet approved a resolution on the air services agreement, added Comoana.
He said that the understanding will further intensify economic cooperation and make the civil aviation area more competitive.
The resolution is part of the Mozambican government’s efforts to implement the Chicago Convention on Civil Aviation and compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
The last audit of the country by ICAO confirmed that 66% of the requirements imposed by this body to the civil aviation sector, against the average required of 60%.
