The International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Gapi, a Mozambican finance institution, are to train 1,200 young people from the provinces of Maputo and Tete, in vegetable production and civil construction, to promote employability in the country.
Gapi said that the programme is called “VIA: Routes to work” and its main goal is to attract young people to employability and entrepreneurship in the areas of agri-business and construction, as well as to ensure the creation and development of a sustainable business.
The initiative was launched on Monday (22 October) and is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 24, with or without academic training.
The coordinator of the Gapi Gender and Youth Unit, Rui Amaral, said that this initiative hopes young people can improve their income and empower them to create their own projects or greenhouses.
Amaral also said that a fund is being created so that young beneficiaries have access to subsidised credit to create their own projects.
