The increasing demand for housing in the administrative post of Pessene, Moamba district, Maputo province, commands an improvement in the provision of basic social services in the region.
This was the position conveyed by the governor of Maputo province, Manuel Tule, who also urges the creation of conditions for the successful integration of citizens who arrive to take up residence.
Speaking a few days ago during a working visit to Moamba district, Tule observed that Pessene had found itself challenged in the area of service provision in recent years, during which it has received many people from the overcrowded cities of Maputo and Matola.
“Many young people move to Moamba. They need roads, water and energy in their homes, and their children need education. We will continue to respond to the challenge of Pessene’s development. This year we will expand access to domestic energy, especially in the area bordering Matola, and also energy to boost economic growth,” Tule explained.
The governor encouraged the Moamba district to grow from an agricultural and livestock perspective, reducing the production time for cattle and poultry, and reducing the import of chickens.
“Moamba is building a chicken slaughterhouse, so our farmers will have somewhere to sell their birds. Previously, they faced constraints placing them on the market,” Tule said.
