More than 375 tons of macadamia nuts have been transported from Gurué district in Zambézia to South Africa so far this year. This corresponds to 30% of the district’s 2024 target of 1,250 tons.
The information was provided to Radio Mozambique by José Manuel, director of the Gurué District Economic Activities Service.
Two companies in Gurué are involved in the production of macadamia – GF Macadâmia and Murimo macadâmia, Manuel said.
But the harvest of macadamia nuts in the district continues, he noted, since not all fruit has reached the ideal level of ripeness.
From South Africa, the nuts will be exported to markets in Europe, Asia and America.
