The family of Guilherme Afonso on Wednesday donated the bibliographic collection of the late writer and film critic to the Mozambican Association of Mozambican Writers (AEMO).
Afonso’s family was represented at the ceremony, which took place at the AEMO premises in Maputo, by science fiction authors Carlos and Afonso Santos.
The action aims to support various AEMO initiatives, including the equipping of school libraries.

After independence, he joined the National Institute of Cinema (Instituto Nacional de Cinema), where he was head of the Documentation and Cinematographic Information section until 1988.
He was also the presenter of the programme “Vamos Falar de Cinema”, on Televisão de Moçambique (TVM) and is the author of the dramatic work “Pão Amargo” (Bitter Bread), which addresses various social problems such as “the confusion in the chapas”.
