Foreign companies interested in investing in distance learning in Mozambique consider improving internet access in rural areas indispensable.
Rogers Sithole, President of the OneConnect Group, a South African company specialising in technological support for universities, said there was a need in this regard for coordination between distance learning institutions and mobile phone companies.
“Receiving data online is a vision of the future. That is why we have to accelerate efforts and, together with governments, find better strategies for the education system,” Sithole told journalists on Wednesday during a presentation at the conference on technological solutions for distance learning in Maputo.
Robert Speed, Vice President of Blackboard, a North American distance learning company, highlighted the need see this modality as a way of investing in the future.
The conference on technological solutions for distance learning brought together government officials, higher education institutions and technology companies.
