Mozambique: Cabinet ratifies deal with Turkey defence agency for equipment supply
More than 10 deaths were recorded in Cabo Delgado’s Mocímboa da Praia, Meluco and Quissanga districts last week – victims of attacks by insurgents terrorising the population of nine districts in the northern province since October 2017.
At dawn last Friday, five people were beheaded in the village of Imbada, in the district of Meluco, in an incursion in which the insurgents also burned down some huts.
On the same day, in the evening, the insurgents raided Mitumbate village in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, though with no deaths so far confirmed.

In the early hours of the previous day (Thursday), the group carried out attacks on the villages of Nanquidunga and Makulo, also in the district of Mocímboa da Praia. The raid on Makulo resulted in one death.
On Tuesday, February 18, the insurgents carried out two raids: one on Chuculua village, where they killed one person and burned down houses, and another on Nkomangano village, where six people were murdered but no material damage was inflicted.
