The Central Office for Combating Corruption (GCCC) has opened a criminal proceeding to determine accountability for the alleged diversion and mismanagement of funds allocated in the context of the response to Covid-19 in the country, Notícias reports.
The information was shared by the GCCC at the launch of African Anti-Corruption Day, 2022, which will be marked on Monday, July 11.
The GCCC says the decision to open an investigation was based on the conclusions of the report, which it requested from the Ministry of Finance, in which the Administrative Tribunal found, among other situations, irregularities related to direct awards, undue payments and misappropriation.
On Monday, July 11, the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC) will lead African Anti-Corruption Day events convened under the theme “Strategies and Mechanisms for the Transparent Management of Covid-19 Funds”.
