The Mozambican Academy of Police Sciences (ACIPOL) will only train police officers with at least three years’ experience from 2023, the commander-general of the Police of Mozambique (PRM) announced on Friday.
According to Rafael, only people with police status acquired at the Matalane Police Training School in Maputo, and officers from the Sergeants School will have the right to enter the academy.
Until this year, ACIPOL used to receive civilians who, in the middle of their course, had to also attend the Matalane Practical School to obtain the status and then return to the academy to complete the course, a process that the commander-general considered “time-consuming”.
“Leaving home and going to the academy is not being a policeman. The only school that gives the status is Matalane,” stressed the Mozambican police commander.
According to the police, 100 officers will be admitted to ACIPOL this year, out of the 150 contemplated, at least until exclusive police training begins at the institution.
