Higher education institutions in Mozambique will from now on need prior accreditation in order to teach courses, the Mozambican Council of Ministers has announced.
The move comes as part of the implementation of the new higher education institution licensing and functioning regulations, which aim to ensure the legality of higher education institutions in Mozambique as well as supervising their activities.
The regulation, which was approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, also determines the minimum academic qualifications required for leaders of higher education institutions in the country.
The document also fixes fees for the licensing of higher education institutions in the country, in addition to determining fines for irregularities in their performance.
