Mozambique’s National Institute for Tourism, Inatur, is looking for partners interested in investing US$365 million in the Crusse and Jamali Islands tourist project in Mossuril district, Nampula province, according to a spokesman.
Felizardo da Costa Arouca, the managing director of the Mozaico do Índigo company, told daily newspaper Notícias that the project includes the construction of world-class tourist resorts, including five-star hotels, villas, casinos, golf courses and a shopping centre, among other units.
At the recent presentation of the project at a meeting in Marracuene, Maputo province, Costa Arouca explained that the islands in question will play an important role in the development of the region and will allow the opening of air routes to Nacala.
The managing director of Mozaico do Índigo said that the projects in the pipeline include exploring the potential of the northern region of the country, such as the Niassa Reserve, Mozambique Island, Crusse and Jamali Islands, Lake Niassa, the Quirimbas Archipelago, and the cities of Pemba, Nacala and Nampula.
The islands Crusse and Jamali, part of the Tourist Interest Zones, are located in Matibane, 40 kilometres from the Island of Mozambique and 150 kilometres from the city of Nampula.
Mozaico do Índigo was incorporated in 2009, with Inatur owning 51% and 49% in the hands of the State Participation Management Institute (IGPE), to be the partner of private and public entities in the development of areas of tourism potential.
