The 21 Mozambican students evacuated from Sudan on Monday are expected to arrive in Maputo from Ethiopia today (26-04). The students travelled to safety there after being removed from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, the spokesman for the Council of Ministers said yesterday (25-04).
“We have a record of 22 [Mozambicans evacuated from Sudan], including 21 students and a priest. They have already left Sudan and are currently in Ethiopian territory, from where they are expected to depart and arrive in the national territory no later than tomorrow (26-04),” Filimão Suaze said on Tuesday.
Suaze explained that the priest was staying in Cairo, at his own request. “His documentation is being processed for his formal stay in Egypt,” and he is in good health.
Of the 21 Mozambican students, five are from Cabo Delgado; five from Nampula ; four from Zambézia; four from Sofala; and four from Maputo.
“All the conditions are being created so that they can all travel onward to their final destinations” upon arrival in Mozambique, Suaze said.
