‘From Here and From There' - Collective exhibition opens in Maputo

Renowned Mozambican musician and saxophonist Chico da Conceição died yesterday in Maputo. He was a legend in Mozambican culture.
The funeral is to be held today Wednesday in the chapel of Maputo Central Hospital. Chico da Conceição will be buried in Inhambane.
Visually impaired since 1975, Francisco João da Conceição was born in Inhambane city on June 14, 1927, the third of four children of João António da Conceição and Domingas Liberato Quinhas.
He dedicated more than 70 years of his life to the cause of Mozambican arts and culture, particularly music and the saxophone, his favourite instrument. His career was marked by awards and decorations. In 1985 he was awarded the Order Samora Moisés Machel, in recognition of his contribution in the field of music. In 2014, by the hands of former President of the Republic, Armando Guebuza, was awarded the Gold Medal.
