Plenary meetings of the Mozambican parliament started today with 31 items on the agenda in a session that runs until December 20.
The draft state budget traditionally gets most attention at this time of year, a parliamentary source explained, but the eighth ordinary session of the Assembly of the Republic in this legislature will also deal with several proposals to change laws.
Among them are the draft laws to revise the Code of Execution of Criminal Punishments, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Criminal Code itself. Parliament will also debate changes to the Organic Legal Referendum Regime and the Legal Regime of Foundations.
The National Defence and Security Council will also have the attention of deputies, specifically concerning a draft law regulating the organisation, composition and operation of the organ.
In terms of economics, the Assembly of the Republic will debate draft laws on private security and the urban lease and rental regime.
Draft laws on mobilisation and requisition of organs, tissue, and human cells transplant, and items related to the national education system are also on the agenda.
The session also includes the annual provision of information by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, and government question and answer sessions.
