Mozambique: Audit reveals massive diversion of funds intended for Covid-19 mitigation - AIM report

The Mozambican currency last week depreciated slightly against the Euro, according to the central bank’s daily average exchange rates.
The Euro was bought in the country at 68.55 meticais, 27 cents of the metical cheaper than in the previous week, and the sell was made at 69.91 meticais for every Euro, 28 cents of the metical more.
In the last two weeks, the Mozambican currency reversed the appreciation trend and lost half a metical to the European currency, while having previously gained eight meticais in three months.
In relation to the US dollar, the weekly average of the Mozambican currency remained unchanged.
The US dollar is the base currency used for calculating the reference exchange rates for the other currencies in Mozambique.
During the last week, the US dollar was bought in the country at 58.74 meticais and the sell was made at 59.90 meticais for every dollar.
