Carrier Ethiopian Airlines will start domestic flights in Mozambique from October 1, with its headquarters in the city of Nacala, the president of Mozambique Airports, Emanuel Chaves, has announced.
Quoted by Noticias today, Chavez says that the carrier, which in Mozambique will be named Ethiopian Mozambique Airlines, is finalising the process of beginning operations in the country.
“The company is currently settling the details for the start-up of operations, and a team led by senior Ethiopian Airlines managers is in Mozambique to ensure that flights start in October,” Chaves added.
The president of Mozambique Airports did not specify which routes the carrier will operate on.
Ethiopian Airlines’ entry into the Mozambican market results from a government policy of liberalising national airspace which aims to make air transport more competitive in the country.
