Maputo City Council issued early today a statement on the situation of Eneas Comiche, the president of the Maputo Municipal Council, who recently attended an event in London in which Prince Albert II of Monaco, who has since tested positive for Covid 19, also participated.
“The President of the Municipal Council of Maputo, Dr. Eneas Comiche, participated on the 10th of March, in London, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in the WaterAid’s Water and Climate Summit, which was attended by, among others, His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
“Upon his return to Mozambique on March 13, 2020, the border health protocol was complied with, at a time when the United Kingdom was not yet among the countries that deserved special attention. However, on the 19th of March, the summit organisers informed Maputo City Council that His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco had tested positive for Covid-19.
“In view of this information, the Mayor of Maputo and the members of the delegation that accompanied him are in voluntary home quarantine, following the protocol established by the Mozambican health authorities. Up to now, the Mayor of Maputo and the members of his delegation are in good health.”
