Water supply restrictions will continue in the Greater Maputo region, the region’s water administrator Gildo Timóteo said today.
The administrator of the Maputo Water Region says that the high temperatures recorded in recent days have affected water reserves in the region.
These water supply restrictions in the cities of Maputo and Matola and in the towns of Boane and Marracuene will extend into the festive season.
That is, there will only be water between 03:00am and 09:00 am in the morning.
The drought that affected the southern region of Africa and the recent high temperatures in the city and province of Maputo are pointed out as some of the factors that justify the maintenance of the restrictions, according to Timóteo.
Due to the restrictions, some customers of the company bet on building more water reservoirs, which will make the commodity even more scarce.
Therefore, water utility Águas da Região de Maputo, has called for the commodity’s rational use.
