Mozambique: Jihadists attack village in Mocímboa da Praia - AIM report
Vandalized Cables
Vandalizing the Energy Transformation (PT) Post in the Malanga zone left a part of the Maputo-KaTembe bridge in darkness on Monday night.
In reaction to the vandalization, Emílio Litsuri, head of operations of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) says that he has not yet forecast dates for the replacement of the electric cables.
It was around 06h00 am on Monday that EDM received in its system a notification that vandalized one of the PTs that feeds the access viaduct to the Maputo-KaTembe bridge in the area of Malanga
At the site, EDM’s chief of operations confirmed the vandalism and theft of electric cables, valued at about one million meticais.
The vandalism of the PT left part of the Maputo-KaTembe bridge without lighting during the night of Monday, which represents a danger to the users.
While the problem is not solved, Silva Magaia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Empresa Maputo Sul, a public infrastructure management company, says that he is adding to the losses, but is already working with the PRM to intensify infrastructure supervision, since it is not the first time that acts of vandalism have taken place.
