Mozambique to receive US$69m support from Gavi and US$41.7m from the Global Fund

Three more patients died of Covid-19 in Mozambique, all in the city of Maputo and on Sunday [November 15], the Ministry of Health announced at a press conference this Monday.
Two of the three patients who lost their lives were men of 49 and 70 years of age respectively, and one was a 66-year-old woman, MISAU reported.
The three patients were Mozambican nationals and had been hospitalised in Maputo city.
Mozambique’s Covid-19 death toll now stands at 116.
However, despite the increase in the number of deaths caused by the pandemic in the country, the number of those who have managed to resist the disease is also rising.
There were 56 more recoveries reported today, bringing the cumulative number of people without the disease to 12,599 cases.
This Monday, MISAU also informed that in the last 24 hours 66 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, of whom 64 are Mozambican citizens and two are Cuban.
As a result, the total number of people who have tested positive in the country rises to 14,514,.
The country currently has 1,795 active cases.
In Mozambique, a total of 557 people have been hospitalised due to the pandemic.
Currently, 51 patients continue to fight for their lives in isolation centres and other health facilities.
Among those hospitalised, 25 are in a moderate condition, 24 are severe cases and two are in critical condition. They all suffer from various chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes and most of them are in the city of Maputo.
Despite the records that Mozambique has had, at the level of the southern Africa, the country continues to be among those that have shown better performance in indicators such as the case fatality rate, deaths per million inhabitants, as well as the tendency for contamination by the virus, informed MISAU in a press conference.
