The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) says that some retailers in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Tete, Manica and Inhambane are still selling expired products.
INAE has found that many food products on sale in those provinces are out of date or poorly maintained.
INAE spokesman Aly Mussa highlighted this state of affairs on a press conference called to share the results of the last two weeks’ operations, which covered more than five hundred retail outlets country-wide.
Mussa said INAE had received complaints of poor hygiene in some stalls and beverage vendors, and said that the institution would carry out inspections soon to determine the quality of the products marketed.
