The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) has suspended activity at an undisclosed number of commercial establishments in Maputo city following the identification of workers infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus.
INAE spokesman Tomás Timba said irregularities such as non-compliance with preventative measures and isolation of infected workers were found, as well as failure to quarantine workers exposed to contamination; inadequate hand disinfection procedures; lack of control over the maximum limit of users in establishments; lack of delimitation of social distance; lack of ventilation; and non-observance of workers’ shifts.
The INAE inspections also found deficiencies in the use of face masks, products placed on floors and people gathering inside bottle stores for the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
“All the people involved in these acts were young people with and acceptable level of access to information about preventive measures,” the source said.
As for the measures taken, the INAE said it was working with owners to reduce the number of customers in commercial establishments at any one time, and to oblige bottle stores to comply with sanitary rules and the scheduled 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. opening hours.
