Mozambique: Government plans to hire 25 doctors in 2024
The Mozambican sociologist Carlos Serra said on Wednesday that the future of Mozambique depends on its ability to balance management between the nation and the village, and that gradual decentralization is the solution to the current political and military crisis.
“The future of this country will depend on the management and the balance between global and local, between nation and village,” the Mozambican academic told Lusa at the launch of his book “Municipalisms and Local Powers” (Municipalismos e Poderes Locais), which brings together various authors to discuss the experience of local authorities in African Portuguese-speaking countries.
As Mozambique’s political crisis worsens, with military clashes between defence and security forces and the armed wing of the main opposition party, Renamo, the Mozambican academic says that the country needs gradual decentralization, without recourse to arms.
