Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tuabo expressed solidarity with residents of Mecufi district this Thursday, June 16, during visits to Sambene, Natuco Muária, Maueia and Ngoma and to Murrebue and Mecúfi-Sede administrative posts.
Governor Tuabo explained that the attack on Macuaia village, which has already caused the displacement of some families in search of safety, was behind his visit.
In Macuaia village, criminals looted products from two stalls, sending residents in search of safety. There were no deaths, and Defence and Security Forces are on the trail of the perpetrators.
The governor asked the communities to remain united, to increase surveillance so as to prevent terrorists invading villages, and to continue their daily activities, bringing to mind a slogan from National Liberation Struggle: “Vigilance, Unity, Work!”
The governor cautioned against the population abandoning their villages, pointing out that opportunists might loot their property, without, however, denying the existence of terrorists put to flight by Defence and Security Forces operations in the central and northern parts of the province.
