In view of the possibility of bad weather in Cabo Delgado and Nampula caused by the tropical cyclone forming to the north of Madagascar, the government has deployed work teams for the two provinces.
The Minister of State Administration and Public Administration, Carmelita Namashulua, is urging a serious focus on the dissemination of warnings of a severe tropical storm affecting the coast of northern Mozambique from Wednesday on.
Speaking to journalists at the beginning of her working visit to the province of Cabo Delgado, Namashulua stressed that information should reach the entire population, especially in areas that could be affected, to avoid human and material damages.
“In Cabo Delgado, everything possible should be done in order to minimise the impact, especially in relation to people,” she said. Forecasts indicate that the Cyclone Kenneth could affect the districts of Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Muidumbe, Mueda and Nangade.

Administrators must remain in their respective districts
The governor of the province, Júlio Paruque, said during an event in the province that: “Faced with the situation, the Cabo Delgado government directs administrators to remain in their respective districts and, together with the district governments, monitor the phenomenon, guiding the population to leave riverside and risk areas.”
In addition to these guidelines, the government is already organising supplies to deal with the situation in districts that may be affected.
