With a view to reinforcing the local force on the front line of the fight against terrorism in the north of Cabo Delgado province, Frelimo Secretary General Roque Silva delivered a donation of foodstuffs in Mueda, on Monday (09-05 ).
The assistance comprised five tons of rice ( 200 bags of 25 kg), two tons of butter beans, one ton of corn flour, 20 boxes of cooking oil, 15 bags of salt and 20 packages of sugar.
The Frelimo secretary general said that the gesture aims to improve the logistical conditions of a fearless force that has been an example worldwide, because, even at an advanced age, they continue to fight for the preservation of independence and in defence of the homeland, transmitting to the spirited young people of the FDS their experience of the armed struggle and adapting it to the current challenge of combating terrorism.
Addressing Frelimo members and activists in Mueda, Roque Silva said that the donation resulted from the contributions of Frelimo militants and members, who, moved by the work that local forces are doing in the province, joined forces and contributed some products.
Roque Silva used his Mueda platform to praise President Filipe Nyusi, who, he said, had been contributing with concrete actions to the progressive improvement of security in the districts affected by terrorism, sparking the hope of ever better days.
He appealed to society bodies to join Frelimo in mobilising support for the local forces helping to protect the population.
In reply, the commander of the local force thanked the Frelimo secretary general, who has tirelessly been seeking logistical support, and said that the donation represented an act imbued with nobility.
