The district of Chinde, in Zambézia province, is already beginning to feel the effects of Tropical Cyclone Idai.
The INGC in Zambézia has been working since Thursday morning to mobilise resources for the evacuation of families in two accommodation centres in the district of Nicoadala, where more than 400 families are accommodated.
“We are in the process of identifying schools in interaction with the district, and what we are going to do is bolster transportation and move families to safer places,” Zambézia INGC delegate Maria Madalena said.
The evacuation exercise will also be carried out in other districts where accommodation centres exist, although Cyclone IDAI is already compounding the suffering of families and complicating actions to help those affected.
