Maputo raised about one billion meticais in taxes in the first half of the year

The Minister of Finance is travelling to China, Radio Mozambique reports today. According to the report, “the Mozambican government is seeking funding in China to increase the productive capacity of the private sector”.
Minister Adriano Maleiane says he is going to China to assess financing conditions, with the proviso of not increasing the country’s indebtedness.
“We will indicate projects, and they will come here not as creditors but as investors.
We are aiming more at an investor relationship. We will be looking into this and making assessments on what needs to be done to make the process move faster,” he said.
The Minister of Economy and Finance added that his visit to China also formed part of the recent China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
