Maputo City Council gears up to ban 15-seater 'Chapas' and 'My Loves'
Fake PRM agent
An ex-soldier who was posing as an agent of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in order to extort money from citizens has been detained in Maputo.
The indicted man was a graduate of the 28th Basic Military Training Course. His uniform, kept since his demobilisation in 2015, was seized along with a radio and other military paraphernalia thought to have been used to extort money from citizens by posing as a policemen on Marginal Avenue.
It is thought that the man’s criminal career began in mid-2016, when he tried to enter the Police School of Practical Training of Matalane in an unsuccessful bid to embark on the police career he so much desired.
According to police, documents belonging to a citizen whose home was robbed two years were found in the man’s possession, suggesting his involvement in that incident.Source: Folha de Maputo
