Persons unknown abducted the deputy chief of the armaments sector in the Northern Regional Command of the Defence Forces of Mozambique (FADM) in Nampula city, on the 30th March.
His body was found days later under a damaged truck immobilised in the road near his residence.
According to A Verdade, sixty-year-old Isdambul Chaimbo was kidnapped on Friday night (March 30), near his residence in the military zone (Nampula city).
The snatch was carried out in a lightning manner by three armed individuals travelling in a double-cab vehicle, license plate and other details not known.
The deceased was returning home after work, having reportedly checked a significant amount of armaments allegedly transported to Mocímboa da Praia in Cabo Delgado province.
The victim’s wife confirmed the occurrence but said she was unaware of the reasons for her husband’s abduction.
It is thought that two unidentified individuals came to the door of the house before Chaimbo’s arrival but did not make contact with any member of the Chaimbo family. It is assumed that these individuals were part of the gang that carried out the kidnapping.
@Verdade was unable to obtain any official clarification of the events.
