Italian oil major Eni has just selected a total of 19 young Mozambicans to work on the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in Area 4 of the Rovuma basin.
Altogether, Eni and its partners in the Coral South FLNG project will hire 800 Mozambicans. Twelve young people have already benefited from professional internships in South Korea.
This Tuesday, another group of 19 recruited from Eduardo Mondlane University were presented – and did not hide their satisfaction at being part of the project.
Maurízio Lanzo, director-general of the Coral FLNG project, said the initiative would enhance the knowledge of the young Mozambicans in gas and oil matters, and that the installation of the floating Liquefied Natural Gas factory was at a very advanced stage.
The Coral South project is the first approved by Area 4 partners for the processing at sea of the considerable gas resources discovered in the Rovuma basin. The US$8 billion investment is expected to start production in 2022.
