Mozambique’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS) say they have reinforced patrols along National Road Number 1 (EN1) to ensure the safe movement of people and goods on sections recently the target of armed attacks.
Spokesman for the Provincial Police Command of the Republic of Mozambique in Manica province, Mateus Mindu, explained that the reinforcement also aimed to identify the perpetrators of the attacks and bring them to justice.
“As we reported a few days ago in Zambezia province, there have been arrests of Renamo gunmen, and here in Manica province we have also made some arrests,” Mindu said.
The PRM spokesman said that, as a result of the corporation’s work, the circulation of vehicles on the EN1 so far remained unrestricted.
