Correios de Moçambique (Mozambique Post) has recorded a financial loss of US$349,000 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Financial solutions to restore sustainability are now being sought.
A fall in the volume of orders from January to the present month of March was already affecting the Post Office of Mozambique, which received just over 20 tonnes of mail this year, mainly from China and various European countries.
Mozambique Post chairman Valdemar Jessen said he was confident the situation would be resolved in the coming weeks.
Mozambique Post is seeking financial stability at a time when the coronavirus pandemic, to which Mozambique is not itself immune, is badly affecting the world economy.
