A delegation of businessmen from Saudi Arabia has postponed a visit to Mozambique due to the spread of the coronavirus.
The visit, aimed at investigating investment opportunities, especially in the areas of hydrocarbons, trade and education, was initially scheduled for April, but Saudi Arabian Ambassador Abdulmalek Alyosfi said in Maputo this Thursday that it would now only take place once the pandemic was under control.
Ambassador Alyosfi was speaking to the press after a visit to the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) aimed at preparing for the arrival of the business mission.
CTA deputy president Álvaro Massingue took advantage of the occasion to sketch out the potential gains for the country of the Saudi visit.
Saudi Arabia has already invested over US$170 million in Mozambique in financing for the education, health and infrastructure sectors.
