Afonso Dhlakama was the leader of Mozambique opposition Renamo since 1979.
If early reports that Afonso Dhlakama has died are true, it’s massive news for #Mozambique. Not only does it throw Renamo, a party he’s led for almost 40 years, into turmoil, it also threatens to remove President Nyusi’s partner for peace at a critical juncture.
