Mozambique: SERNIC arrests one in possession of 3.3 kilos of hashish in Matola
Satar is being held in the Jail attached to the General Police Command
VOA Potuguês reports that “Nini Satar, a businessman arrested last week in Thailand, arrived on Wednesday in Maputo, where he will serve a 12-year sentence of 24 years in prison for his involvement in the death of journalist Carlos Cardoso in 2000”.
Leonardo Simbine, head of Public Relations at the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), told a press conference in Maputo that Satar is being held in the jail attached to the General Command of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.
Simbine pointed out that the detention of “Nini”, as he is known,, was the culmination of a six-month work in coordination with Interpol.
According to the same source, “asked about the fact that Satar is being investigated in South Africa in alleged cases of abduction of businessmen, SERNIC’s head of Public Relations has simply said that Mozambican authorities are awaiting official communication from the neighbouring country.
Nini Satar has reportedly left the country for medical treatment in India after being released on probation in 2014 due to good behaviour while serving half the sentence.
