Zimbabwe wants new IMF staff-monitored programme by April
Namibian refugees on Tuesday accused Botswana of using clandestine means to deport them to their country of origin despite a court order interdicting the government from doing so. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Namibian refugees appealed to President Mokgweetsi Masisi to intervene and stop what they described as underhand measures by some government officials to boot them out of the country.
The Namibian refugees cited what they called the forced repatriation on 25 October 2018 during which Abel Walubita, Ben Zwelo, Nzundamo Matemwa and Limbo Malala were taken to the Caprivi Strip in southern Namibian.
They described it as an open breach of international instruments that govern refugee conventions.
“It is a common cause that the acts of the Botswana government this far on the Caprivian people is just aimed to appease Namibia. The dubious so called repatriation being conducted in Dukwi is actually a direct contempt of court order dated 18 March 2016 and 25 July 2018 consecutively held at the Lobatse High Court,” they said.
