Mozambique: Three Portuguese-language writers up for Dublin literary prize

Band Kakana takes the stage at the University Eduardo Mondlane Cultural centre in Maputo for the presentation of their new album entitled “Juntos” (Together) tonight.
With 17 tracks, the album brings messages of a social nature such as love and forgiveness. It also speaks about the importance of peace, harmony and concord, addressing aspects related to love, forgiveness and the rescue of cultural values.
The album fuse traditional African rhythms with modern ones, and traces the profile of gastronomy and fashion. Our differences, our dreams, our joy and sadness and our longings find space in this “Together” approach.
Banda Kakana members Quinzinho (drummer), Reinaldo (bass player), Jivass (guitarist), Jimmy Gwaza (guitarist), Figas (keyboard player) and Yolanda Kakana (lead singer) took part in the recording.
This work has contributions for artists such as Wazimbo, Maya Egashira (Japanese violinist), Catarina Domingues (Portuguese accordionist) and Silvain Doutelie (French pianist).
Also featured are Otis (saxophonist), Stélio Zoe and Stélio Mondlane (drummers), Vali and Thapelo (keyboards), Onésia and Loide (corridors), Jorge César (percussionist), Samito Tembe (wudo), Filipinho Sacre (bass player), Belarmino and Issufo (drums), Bob Love, Felix Mambucho and Esperança Naene’
The album was recorded by Fanuel Macuácua at ZEP Studio and Kakana Studio, and mixed and mastered by Danilo Gustavo in Brazil.
The album “Juntos” is an album with a lot of love, dedicated to all the people who still believe in love, good practice and families that stay together under any circumstances.
Tonight’s concert starts at 8 p.m.
