Three people are known to have died when two boats sank over the past week off the coast of the central Mozambican province of Zambezia, reports the independent television station, STV.
The first incident occurred last Thursday, off Tocolo island in Pebane district, when a rowing boat with four people on board went missing in bad weather.
According to the spokesperson for the Zambezia provincial police command, Miguel Caetano, two bodies were recovered. Searches are continuing for the other two occupants of the boat, but it is feared that they also drowned.
Early on Tuesday morning, also in Pebane, a boat carrying 15 fishermen sank. Most of the fishermen were rescued, but one person died.
