Japan: JICA President Tanaka met with Prime Minister Levi of Mozambique

A delegation from the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) visited Mozambique last week in order to participate in a meeting for the preparation of the Third Thematic Review Report on food security and natural disasters.
Received by President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi on Thursday or a consultation meeting, APRM representative Lydia Mutenda said that the upcoming forum was intended to find solutions to mitigate the impact of future natural disasters, as well as design ways to minimise the food insecurity plaguing African countries.
The meeting held fruitful discussions highlighting the significance of the review in building a resilient Mozambique. President Nyusi expressed his support for this initiative, recognizing the importance of addressing these critical issues for the development of the nation.

“With our visit to Mozambique, we wanted to understand how the country has been implementing mechanisms to mitigate some of the challenges that affect the population, as well as understanding the strategies used to combat food insecurity”, she explained.
In turn, the Mozambican Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Carla Louveira, stated that the APRM delegation was in the country to assess the stage of efforts that the government, private sector and other stakeholders are implementing with a view to responding to the challenges posed by natural phenomena.
The APRM Review Process was established by the African Union in 2003. Its members must be fully identified and committed to the principles, priorities and objectives of good political, economic and corporate governance.
On Wednesday (7 June) he APRM delegation also met Mozambique’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela.
