The Industrial Association of Mozambique (AIMO) held, at 9:00 a.m. on March 15, 2021, its 15th Ordinary General Assembly, under the provisions of nr. 2, paragraph a) of article 18 of its current statutes.
Due to the context of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the Ordinary Session took place in a hybrid mode with the President of General Assembly, the President of AIMO and the Executive Director of AIMO located at AIMO headquarters, and the remaining members of AIMO participating remotely, through the ‘Zoom’ platform.
The 15th Ordinary Session of the General Assembly of AIMO discussed the following points.
The Chairman of the Board of the Industrial Association of Mozambique Rogério Samo Gudo recalled that, in 2020, when the new management bodies of AIMO took office, there were already aspects such as the activity and financial report that needed to be discussed and approved. In this context, the Board of Directors considered that these documents should be discussed and approved at a General Assembly session.
In his inauguration speech, on February 26, 2020, in an extra-ordinary session of the General Assembly, the Chairman of AIMO presented some aspects of the December 20, 2019, 14th Ordinary Session, highlighting that the recommendations of that session were very important for the alignment of the strategic plan that will guide the new board in the next three years.
The strategic plan drawn for the current AIMO board direction stresses the following aspects:
(i) institutional capacity building and capacity building of AIMO members;
(ii) communication and interaction with different members;
(iii) modernisation and innovation in the industrial sector; and
(iv) institutional partnerships with various entities, with a view to creating an institutional environment that promotes competitiveness and industrial productivity.
