Admira António (O País)
Mozambique now has a woman in the air – Admira António, the first female commercial pilot in the country. Admira will captain an Embraer 145 aircraft belonging to LAM subsidiary MEX-Mozambique Expresso.
António has an excellent professional performance record and more than 3,500 flying hours required to qualify as commander.
António attended the Airplane Pilot Course (PLAA) run by the South African Academy “43 Air School” in 2017, and specialized in Sim Aero Training, carrying out the line training on the plane of which she became approved commander on June 16 of this year.
António began flying in 2011, attending the aviation course at the Lanserie Flight Centre in South Africa, where she accumulated her first 35 flying hours. In 2012, she joined the MEX cadet group and participated in the private pilots’ course, racking up another 26 hours of flight. In 2013, she passed the Embraer 145 aircraft Type Rating specialization in France as co-pilot.
